Overview
Position: Programmer/Analyst at Le Moyne College. The role centers on maintaining and modernizing the College’s core administrative systems, with responsibility for the performance, stability, and evolution of the Ellucian Colleague environment while helping transition legacy processes into scalable, modern solutions. The Programmer/Analyst acts as a technical bridge between established systems and emerging technologies—building integrations, reducing technical debt, and enabling more efficient, data-driven operations across the institution.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance the Ellucian Colleague system and UniData environment to ensure reliability, performance, and data integrity
- Diagnose and resolve system issues; proactively tune and optimize system performance
- Develop, modify, and support applications using UniBasic and Envision
- Create and maintain clear, usable documentation for legacy systems and processes
- Safeguard sensitive institutional data in alignment with security and compliance standards
- Reduce technical debt by auditing and streamlining legacy custom code
- Identify opportunities to replace custom solutions with standard (baseline) system functionality
- Simplify and modernize system architecture to improve maintainability and scalability
- Decommission obsolete processes, reports, and data structures to support future upgrades or migrations
- Design and implement integrations between Colleague and modern platforms (e.g., Canvas, Workday) using APIs, web services (REST/SOAP), and JSON
- Develop reports and data solutions using tools like SQL Server Reporting Services and Informer
- Support data exchange processes that enable accurate, timely reporting and decision-making across departments
- Partner with departments such as Financial Aid, Registrar, and Bursar to align business processes with system capabilities
- Translate functional needs into technical solutions within the Colleague environment
- Guide stakeholders through changes that reduce reliance on custom development and improve long-term sustainability

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required
- 5+ years of programming experience, ideally in ERP or enterprise systems
- Experience with SQL Server or similar relational databases
- Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague, UniData, or UniBasic preferred
- Familiarity with APIs, web services (REST/SOAP), and JSON
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Experience with reporting tools such as Informer or SQL Server Reporting Services preferred
- Familiarity with systems such as Canvas or Workday preferred
- Experience in higher education or similarly complex institutional environments preferred
Benefits and Compensation
- Pay Range: $70,000 - $75,000 annually
