A part-time Administrative Technician position is available with the City of Fort Worth Fire Department to work within the Payroll Unit in the Fire Administration Division. This position will be located at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex, 505 W. Felix, Fort Worth, TX 76115. This position consists of basic payroll entry and general support to the payroll team with general administrative tasks. This position works within a team to ensure that all payroll related tasks and responsibilities are successfully carried out on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in Business Management, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of clerical and administrative experience
  • Valid Texas driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with payroll processing.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through.

The Fire Payroll Administrative Technician (Part-time) Job Responsibilities Include

  • Basic payroll entry, filing, run and format payroll reports.
  • Assist Payroll Unit with research and deployment reimbursements.
  • Provide fast friendly customer service to both internal and external customers.

Working Conditions

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.

Physical Demands

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
