At the Kentucky Department of Corrections, the Division of Education plays a crucial role supporting theDepartment and the reentry of offenders back into the community. The mission of the Division of Education isto prepare every offender through the advancement of academic achievement and work ready skills for successfulreentry.
As education corrections professionals, it is our job to assist in the rehabilitation and reentry of offendersby working within the Department, with community partners, and state agencies to increase community safety andreduce recidivism rates. The administrative specialist senior will provide support to the Southeast StateCorrectional Complex Education Center in planning, facilitating, and coordinating educational opportunitieswithin the correctional environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
The ideal candidate should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, organization skills,technology skills, and have displayed the ability to complete work related activities in a professionalmanner. The ideal candidate should be able to multitask with the ability to plan, pay attention to detail,think critical and analyze data to forecast positive outcomes. This candidate should possess the ability towork well in a team-oriented environment and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the Department, Division, andfacility.
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-foryear basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
