Under the direct supervision of the Campus Support Director, the incumbent must have the ability to exercise judgement and discretion in interpreting and applying office practices and procedures. This position functions as switchboard operator lead for the Coastal Center campus and assists the Campus Support Director with various duties. Primarily in charge of creating switchboard schedules and ensuring coverage is met for the switchboard.

  • The switchboard lead generates the switchboard schedule to ensure coverage is met for all shifts. Verifies time sheets for accuracy and completion for submission to Campus Support Director. Works rotating shifts to ensure coverage is met. Conducts monthly meetings and trainings for all switchboard operators.
  • In charge of ordering supplies and updating documents and policies. Ensures all vehicles are signed in and out properly; safeguarding vehicles binders and keys.
  • Monitors and ensures daily logs are complete and accurate. Conducts radio checks and emails Campus Support Director on non-functional communication devices.
  • Greets visitors arriving to the Coastal Center campus; issues visitor badges, answers general questions of visitors; and contacts units and program areas of visitors. Assists family/staff with questions concerning trips and home visits.
  • Provide feedback to the Campus Support Director about staff performance, attendance, positive observations as they occur throughout the year related to Employee Performance Management System (EPMS).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Campus Support Director.

The position for this posting is located at Coastal Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Requires a high school diploma and one year of clerical experience; or an associate degree in secretarial science or a related field, or two years in clerical experience

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies relevant to the agency of employment. Knowledge of word processing centers and/or current office management practices. Knowledge of grammatical rules, clerical formats and/or journalistic principles. Knowledge of behavioral characteristics of the physically or mentally challenged. Knowledge of basic training principles and techniques. Knowledge of methods and procedures of microfilm photography. Knowledge of medical terminology and classification. Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures. Ability to schedule workloads, establish routing systems and maintain billing records. Ability to deal effectively with the public in handling inquiries and communicating information.

Immunization:

If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
