Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, seeks Workforce Specialists to support individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Position located at Coastal Regional Center in Summerville, SC. Requires a high school diploma; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations related to the area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of casework interviewing techniques.
  • Knowledge of principles of human growth and behavior.
  • Ability to counsel with clients.
  • Ability to plan and organize effective training activities.
  • Ability to analyze data and organize information.
  • Ability to observe and interpret behavior.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Implements services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a group setting to include leisure, vocational, pre-vocational, and daily living skills.
  • Completes assessments, implements programs based on assessed needs.
  • Completes all documentation to include data on objectives, attendance reports, individual and weekly payroll reports.
  • Provides training in self‑help skills to consumers and serve as coverage staff in the residential units.
  • Offer guidance to Direct Support Professionals in the care, and training of individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs.
  • Ensures health, safety and accountability of individuals with disabilities.
  • Adheres to OIDD written rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

General Guidelines of a Direct Supervisor
  • Implements services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a group setting to include leisure, vocational, pre-vocational, and daily living skills.
  • Completes assessments, implements programs based on assessed needs.

This position is eligible for up to $3.50/hour shift differential for applicable shifts!

The positions for this posting are located at Coastal Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF‑IID) of BHDD‑OIDD located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Employment Contingency

Immunization

If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers, tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan

In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, employees of the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
