Job summary

Georgia State University's Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology, seeks an Administrative Specialist II to support daily operations for students, faculty, staff, and external partners.

You will assist the Business Manager with departmental operations, coordinate events, trainings, meetings, and special programs, and support hiring, onboarding, payroll, and personnel processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with two years administrative experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Higher education experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with university policies and procedures, and administrative guidelines.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel; knowledge of GoSOLAR, Spectrum, PantherMart, OneUSG is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support student administrative activities for undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Assist the Business Manager with departmental operations and daily functions.
  • Coordinate departmental events, trainings, meetings, and programs.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, payroll, and personnel processes for student employees and part-time instructors.
  • Process departmental purchasing and financial transactions (PantherMart, SPCW, honoraria, travel).
  • Assist Internship Coordinator with internship administration.
  • Coordinate training programs and outreach with external organizations.
  • Support Awards and Scholarship Committee with scholarship administration.
  • Assist the Master of International Criminal Justice (MISCJA) Program Coordinator with student-related matters.
  • Support faculty liaisons with student organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Support student administrative activities for both undergraduate and graduate programs, serving as a resource for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assist the Business Manager with departmental administrative operations and daily business functions.
  • Coordinate departmental events, trainings, meetings, and special programs.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, payroll, and personnel-related processes for student employees and part-time instructors.
  • Process departmental purchasing and financial transactions, including PantherMart purchases, Foundation transactions, SPCW requests, service provider agreements, honoraria, travel reimbursements, and related activities.
  • Assist the Internship Coordinator with internship administration and student engagement activities.
  • Coordinate training programs and outreach activities for external organizations and community partners.
  • Support the Awards and Scholarship Committee with scholarship administration and student award processes.
  • Assist the Master of International Criminal Justice (MISCJA) Program Coordinator with student-related administrative matters.
  • Support faculty liaisons with student organization activities and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and two years administrative experience; or high school diploma or GED and six years administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Requirements:
  • Experience working within a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of university policies, procedures, and administrative guidelines.
  • Experience using GoSOLAR, Spectrum, PantherMart, OneUSG, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
