Job description

Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the community? The Prince William County Department of Public Safety Communications is seeking highly motivated candidates with exceptional interpersonal skills for the position of Administrative Specialist. The successful candidate plays a vital role in providing essential support to the Department of Public Safety Communications. The Department is a diverse and dynamic organization that provides critical emergency services to the citizens, visitors, and businesses in Prince William County.

About This Role:

The ideal candidate will have customer service experience both internally and externally, strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to independently solve problems, and keen attention to detail. The selected applicant will support staff with data collection and reporting, communicate with internal and external customers, and perform clerical duties such as processing travel requests, ordering supplies, and handling basic administrative tasks. This position involves access to confidential and sensitive information and requires a high level of integrity and trust.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of related administrative experience
Preferences:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, Mobius or similar software, Teams/Webex, Adobe Pro, and records management
Special Requirements:

The applicant must pass a comprehensive background investigation after a conditional offer, including criminal history check, driving record check, drug testing, credit check, typing test (minimum WPM 30), medical examination, psychological and polygraph assessments.

Work Schedule:

The normal schedule is Monday through Friday in 8-hour shifts, but due to the dynamic nature of the Communications Center, some schedule adjustments, including after-hours and weekend shifts, may be required.

Starting Salary Range:

$25.44 – $27.98/hr.
