Job summary

The Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences Department at the University of Connecticut seeks candidates for a full-time, renewable term appointment Administrative Services (P1) position to assist clinical and administrative personnel within the UConn Speech and Hearing Clinic.

This staff member will provide general office support to the clinic front office and Audiology staff, interact daily with students, patients, families, and the UConn community, and support audiology and hearing aid

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, writing, and administrative skills.
  • Experience with recordkeeping systems, data organization and management, and basic accounting principles.
  • Experience working collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides general office support to the clinic, including answering phones, responding to inquiries, and directing calls.
  • Coordinates data processing functions central to the clinic's needs; supports schedules and produces routine computer reports.
  • Reviews records and data for accuracy, reconciles differences, and works with other staff and university offices to identify errors and make corrections.
  • Maintains and supports schedules for multiple providers in both Speech and Audiology.
  • Supports patient intake procedures and accepting payments.
  • Compiles data and prepares statistical reports used to monitor or assess department activities, programs, and services or project future needs.
  • Monitors office supply inventory and coordinates maintenance for clinic equipment.
  • Assists in preparation of budgets and monitors expenditures.
  • Provides support to Audiology clinic for management of patient devices including shipping devices to manufacturers, processing/tracking orders from the clinic, and communicating directly with patients regarding equipment pick-ups.
  • Maintains inventory of audiology supplies and infection control materials.
  • Performs related work as required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences Department at the University of Connecticut seeks candidates for a full-time, renewable term appointment Administrative Services (P1) position. This position assists clinical and administrative personnel within the UConn Speech and Hearing Clinic.

This staff member will be expected to provide general office support to the UConn Speech and Hearing Clinic front office and Audiology clinical staff. The incumbent will interact daily with the student population, clinic patients and family members, and members of the UConn community and must be able to provide exemplary service while exercising discretion and carefully maintaining confidentiality. The position requires organizational skills, customer service, and technical knowledge related to hearing aid processes and clinic workflows. This role supports the Speech & Hearing Clinic by combining front-facing administrative operations with specialized support of audiology and hearing aid services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s degree in related field and two to three years of related experience OR four years of experience in a full-time, professional administrative support position in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, writing, and administrative skills.
  • Experience with recordkeeping systems, computer programming methods, data organization and management, basic accounting principles, and Microsoft Office and related software applications.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in a health care setting.
  • Experience working with hearing aid technology.li>
  • Point of Sale experience.
APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, end-dated position with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience.
