Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the administrative and operational functions of the International Patient Center (IPC). This role ensures the seamless delivery of services to international patients and their families by managing patient access, care coordination, financial clearance, travel logistics, interpreter services, and administrative workflows. The position collaborates closely with clinical departments, hospital leadership, international sponsors, embassies, insurers, and external partners to enhance the patient experience, drive operational excellence, support business growth, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable healthcare regulations.

Essential Functions

Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the International Patient Center, ensuring efficient patient intake, registration, scheduling, and care coordination processes for international patients.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, and service standards that support a high-quality international patient experience and operational efficiency.

Manage and develop International Patient Center staff, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance management, and professional development.

Partner with clinical departments, Patient Financial Services, interpreter services, and ancillary teams to ensure seamless coordination of care throughout the patient journey.

Oversee international patient referral management, appointment scheduling, financial clearance, sponsorship verification, and medical record collection to support timely access to care.

Establish and maintain relationships with international insurance carriers, government sponsors, embassies, facilitators, referral sources, and strategic global partners.

Monitor operational performance metrics, patient satisfaction measures, access indicators, and service levels, identifying opportunities for process improvement and growth.

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, healthcare regulations, privacy standards, accreditation requirements, and international patient service guidelines.

Resolve complex patient, family, sponsor, and operational issues with professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and a service-oriented approach.

Support strategic initiatives aimed at expanding international patient volumes, strengthening global relationships, and enhancing the institution’s reputation as a destination for international care.

Job Description
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, International Business, Hospitality Management, or a related field required.

Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field preferred.

Licenses and Credentials

Preferred certifications in healthcare management, patient experience, project management, or international healthcare services.

Experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in healthcare administration, patient access, patient services, healthcare operations, or a related field required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a management or leadership role required.
  • Experience supporting international patient programs, global patient services, medical tourism, or complex care coordination preferred.
  • Experience working with international insurers, embassy-sponsored patients, government payers, or global referral networks preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and team development skills in a high-touch patient services environment.
  • Knowledge of international patient workflows, including referral management, financial clearance, travel coordination, and care navigation.
  • Understanding of cultural competency principles and the ability to lead teams serving diverse patient populations.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, electronic health records (EHR), customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and patient access platforms.
