The position provides focused, hands‑on technology leadership below the executive level. It translates organizational strategy into IT execution and serves as the COO’s primary point of accountability for the division

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable the IT directors and, through them, the broader division.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing team through excellent employee relations, training, coaching, performance evaluation, and a collaborative working environment, initiating personnel actions in accordance with HR policy when necessary.
  • Drive succession planning, staff development, and retention across a mix of employees, contractors, and remote staff.
Strategy & Execution
  • Own the IT roadmap and annual operating plan; align technology priorities with goals set by executive leadership.
  • Serve as the single point of coordination for cross-team dependencies, particularly between Epic application work, infrastructure, and security.
  • Lead strategic and tactical technology planning, prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.
  • Analyze complex business needs from the user community and recommend technical solutions; define requirements for new implementations and communicate them to business stakeholders.
Epic & Clinical Systems
  • Ensure the stability, optimization, and governance of the Epic environment and related clinical and revenue-cycle applications.
  • Oversee the enterprise-wide development, optimization, and ongoing evaluation of electronic applications and computer operations, including local- and wide-area networks.
  • Partner with clinical, revenue cycle, and operational stakeholders on system priorities and change governance.
Infrastructure, Security & Continuity
  • Oversee network, telecom, end-user support, and IT customer services to defined service levels.
  • Ensure a sound information security posture, overseeing cyber risk analysis, data-loss prevention, and security operations to protect organizational, employee, and patient information.
  • Direct the organization’s disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including scheduled testing, and lead incident response processes and breach playbooks.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, HIPAA, and other state and federal data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Financial, Vendor & Operational Management
  • Manage the division’s operating and capital budgets and ensure financial viability through attention to cost utilization, productivity in assigned cost centers, and tactical execution of Lean concepts.
  • Review hardware/software acquisition and maintenance contracts, pursuing master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale; oversee vendor risk management.
  • Establish key performance indicators, service-level objectives, and operational metrics to continually measure and improve IT service delivery.
  • Define and communicate IT procedures, policies, and standards for acquiring, implementing, and operating systems, equipment, and software.
Qualifications
Experience
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive healthcare IT management experience, including direct management of managers/directors and at least 2 years in an acute care hospital, health system, or comparable setting.
  • Proven success leading diverse IT areas including applications, infrastructure, networks, support services, and help desk.
  • Hands‑on familiarity with Epic in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong financial/budget management and vendor/contract experience.
Knowledge & Skills
