About Us

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work

Reporting to the Correctional Programs Director I, this position performs a variety of administrative, clerical, and office support duties requiring knowledge of office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services.

Job responsibilities
  • Preparing documents and reports, composing memos and letters, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, and posting information.
  • Entering time for offender work release.
  • Greeting, referring, and assisting visitors, clients, staff, and others.
  • Distributing mail and photocopying.
  • Using a variety of office equipment and technology.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

Salary Range

$31,200 - $51,249

Contract & Work Hours

This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

About the Division of Institutions

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

About Sanford Correctional Center

Sanford Correctional Center is located in Sanford, North Carolina and houses up to 298 male offenders in a minimum custody facility.
