The Office of Judicial Administration is responsible for the efficient administration of all agencies that operate under the direction of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court. That includes 200 personnel; fiscal management; communication; technology; legal services; intergovernmental relations; services for the trial courts; and support for court boards, commissions, and committees. The Office is headed by Chief Administrative Officer Aaron Hood, who reports directly to the Chief Justice of Indiana and serves as the link between the Chief Justice and the agencies of the Court.

Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222 but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.

About The Job:

This position serves as an Administrative Assistant–Paralegal for the Indiana Supreme Court, providing general administrative support to the Chief Justice, the Associate Justices, and the Supreme Court Services staff attorneys.

A Day In The Life:

This position performs duties related to supporting and enhancing the workflow of the Supreme Court Services staff attorneys by completing tasks essential to case processing and assisting with general administrative requests. This position also assists the Chief Justice and Associate Justices by planning and preparing case conferences and oral arguments. Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor and process case filings, motions, and other matters filed with the Supreme Court
  • Coordinate with the Appellate Clerk on case processing and scheduling matters
  • Assist with scheduling and preparing for Supreme Court oral arguments and other Court events.
  • Draft and process routine orders on transfer and oral argument
  • Process attorney-drafted Court orders and transmit to the Appellate Clerk
  • Draft conference agendas and maintain the electronic agenda and case materials on the Judicial Dashboard
  • Maintain statistical data used to prepare monthly and annual reports
  • Maintain the Court’s calendar
  • Additional duties as assigned
