Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact in the center, greeting and assisting a diverse range of students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Check students in and out of the online system, connect them to their tutor or appropriate resource, and notify campus personnel in a crisis.
  • Maintain student and Center records in the online system and in physical files, keeping FERPA confidentiality.
  • Manage daily center activities, open/close shifts, appointments, drop-ins, and student requests.
  • Order and organize office supplies and maintain the department printer for staff and campus use.
  • Manage room reservations and communicate with the Director to help students access tutoring and resources.
  • Ensure center operations align with ARC rules; collaborate with colleagues and cover shifts as needed.
  • Keep the desk and center clean and organized.
  • Submit Campus Services and technology requests and communicate issues with the Director.
  • Promote Academic Resource Center services and campus resources to students and teach them to access resources independently.
  • Efficiently manage center resources (books, models, technology, headphones) and check items in/out.
  • Attend campus trainings and develop proficiency in campus software systems and accessibility technologies such as UbiDuo.

Starting Salary Range: $16.68-$21.23 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: Work under the guidance of the supervisor to manage the activities of the appropriate resource center at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) to ensure a friendly, productive, and safe learning environment for students. Serve as the initial contact of the center and complete day-to-day office support duties using effective communication, organizational, and time management skills and under close supervision.

Position detailsinclude but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the first point of contact in the center, greeting and assisting a diverse range of students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Answer queries in person, via email, and via phone. Check students in and out of the online system, connect them to their tutor or appropriate resource in a timely manner, take appropriate action in a crisis situation and notify the appropriate campus personnel.
  • Maintain student and Center records in the appropriate online system and in physical written files as necessary. Maintain confidentiality of student records by following Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines.
  • Manage the daily activities of the center by opening and closing the center (as appropriate for scheduled shifts). Manage online and in-person appointments, drop-in students, and additional student requests.
  • Order and organize office supplies and maintain the department printer for staff and campus use.
  • Manage room reservations; maintain communication with the Director and other staff to assist students in accessing tutoring and resources.
  • Maintain smooth operations of the center by abiding to center and ARC rules and procedures. Collaborate with colleagues and cover shifts as needed.
  • Keep the desk and center clean and organized.
  • Submit Campus Services and technology requests and communicate any issues with the Director.
  • Promote Academic Resource Center services and other campus services, direct students as necessary, and educate students on how to independently access resources on campus.
  • Efficiently manage center resources (books, models, technology, headphones, and other resources) understanding their usage and availability. Direct students to the appropriate resources and correctly check resources in and out.
  • Attend relevant campus training and department meetings as requested and/or required. Gain proficiency in various campus software systems and develop working knowledge in accessibility technologies such as UbiDuo to ensure successful operation and support.
