Administrative Assistant 1 / Trainee 1 / 2 - NY HELPS

Base pay range

$40,391.00/yr - $58,447.00/yr

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide administrative support to NYS DEC Police, including answering phones, managing mail, scheduling, travel arrangements, responding to inquiries, preparing reports, maintaining files, processing reports, tracking requests, updating records, supporting staff, managing supplies, maintaining office appearance, and other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Trainee 1: Six months of administrative support experience, proficiency with office software, customer service, business writing, and office administration. Must pass a keyboarding test at 30 wpm with 96% accuracy.
  • Trainee 2: One year of experience with similar requirements, keyboarding test as above.
  • Administrative Assistant 1: Two years of experience with similar requirements, keyboarding test as above.
Additional Qualifications

Reassignment, reinstatement, or transfer eligibility criteria are detailed, including service requirements and proficiency demonstrations.

Training and Traineeship Details

Two-year traineeship leading to full appointment, requiring coursework and successful completion before advancement.

Additional Requirements

Background check, fingerprinting, and federal criminal background check may be required. Telecommuting options discussed at interview.
