Job summary

Richland Elementary is seeking an Administrative Assistant for a 1.0 FTE front office role. You will provide secretarial support to the Principal, assist students, parents, staff and visitors, and maintain student records with accuracy. Daily tasks include typing correspondence, answering phones, processing mail, and keeping office files current.

The position runs for a 42-week school year, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with an hourly rate of $17.55.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and student data systems is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational abilities are essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide secretarial support to the Principal.
  • Assist students, parents, staff and visitors.
  • Type correspondence, answer phones, process mail, and maintain files.
  • Maintain paperwork for supplies, equipment and inventory.
  • Maintain the student information system in a timely manner.
  • Process payroll documents and substitutes as needed.
  • Willing to be trained in medical duties as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the administrators, the administrative assistant is responsible for assisting students, parents, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. High School diploma or general education degree
  2. Proficient use of computers, including knowledge and use of Google Workspace and student data systems
  3. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven organizational skills
  4. Demonstrated success as a collaborator and proven team player
  5. Demonstrated successful communication skills with students, staff, parents, and community

Desired Characteristics:

  1. Prior administrative assistant/office experience preferred
  2. Ability to handle many job responsibilities and prioritize duties
  3. Experience working with children

Duties:

  1. To provide secretarial support to the Principal
  2. To assist students, parents, staff, and visitors
  3. Type correspondence, answer phones, process mail, and maintain general office files
  4. Process and maintain all necessary paperwork for supplies, materials, equipment, and inventory
  5. Ability to plan and organize; good work habits
  6. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents
  7. To accurately maintain student information system on a timely basis
  8. Process reporting substitutes and all documents associated with payroll
  9. Willing and able to be trained in medical areas; diabetic screening, dispensing medicine, lice check, fevers, etc.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by administration
