About LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility

LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility is a multi‑level security facility located in LaPorte, Indiana, and houses up to 62 incarcerated juvenile females. It is the only female juvenile facility in the state and serves as the intake site for female youth entering the Indiana Department of Correction. The campus spans 60 acres and features housing, dining, and administrative areas in the main building. Programming focuses on education, treatment, and individualized services to support rehabilitation. Staff provide a structured and supportive environment that emphasizes growth and positive change. Role Overview

You will work with employees in your unit as well as other units within the agency or department and the general public to interpret unit policy and procedures and to maintain coordination of work. You will receive specific instructions on unusual problems and must refer all deviations from the norm tothe supervisor. Results are reviewed for soundness of judgment, adherence to directions and technical competence.

Salary

A Day In The Life

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Works as a professional staff assistant within a state agency or organization performing multiple administrative tasks.
  • Researches and prepares various reports on agency programs and/or procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains procedural manual for agency functions.
  • Reviews policies, plans and procedures for administrative soundness.
  • Coordinates the work of various sections of the agency or department.
  • Answers inquiries from the public concerning policy and procedures in assigned area.
  • Makes recommendations to administrator about procedures and methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitors and documents activity occurring in their respective department to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations.

A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) and at least 4 years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
