Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking an Administrative Assistant in Macon to support public health initiatives statewide. The role provides clerical help, data entry, and customer service to residents and facilities, ensuring accurate information and smooth office operations.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required with two years of related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Excel expertise preferred.
  • Experience with the Digital Health Department (DHD) platform is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for the public when calling or visiting the office.
  • Provide general clerical support: data entry/maintenance, copying, faxing documents.
  • Generate bulk billing for annual fees in regulated program areas.
  • Collect and enter accurate information for facilities and complaints.
  • Provide clerical support and excellent customer service to clients.
  • Receive and direct telephone calls and faxes as needed.
  • Participate in required trainings and maintain records.

As an Administrative Assistant with Macon-Bibb County Environmental Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals working to protect the health and well-being of communities across the state by supporting vital public health initiatives. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for the public when calling or entering the office
  • Provides general clerical support including data entry/maintenance, copying, faxing documents
  • Generates bulk billing for annual fees in regulated program areas
  • Collects and enters accurate information for facilities and complaints
  • Provides clerical support and excellent customer service to clients
  • Receives and directs telephone calls and faxes accordingly
  • Participates in all required training
  • Helps with emergency preparedness response during declared emergencies
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in the core applications of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience using the Digital Health Department (DHD) platform
