Job summary

Macon-Bibb County Health Department seeks a Clinical Nurse Manager to lead programs, staff, and clinical services while managing budgets and ensuring high-quality public health care. This role supports community health initiatives across Georgia and offers a stable schedule with opportunities for professional growth.

Required: nursing licensure in Georgia, PHN training within a year, and CPR. Preferred: bachelor’s degree in nursing and prior public health experience.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in nursing and three (3) years of nursing experience, plus PHN course within one year and current Georgia RN license & CPR.
  • Or two (2) years of experience at the PH Registered Nurse Supervisor level (HCP193) or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing; public health experience; knowledge of Georgia DPH nursing protocols; experience managing federal or state funds.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee programs, staff, clinical services, and fiscal operations of the local health department.
  • Develop community partnerships, manage resources, ensure delivery of high-quality services.
  • Hire, supervise, evaluate, and train clinical and clerical staff; oversee student training.
  • Plan and manage county health programs; ensure compliance and submit reports.

As a Clinical Nurse Manager at the Macon-Bibb County Health Department, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals working to protect the health and well‑being of communities across the state by supporting vital public health initiatives. Job Responsibilities

Under limited supervision, the Clinical Nurse Manager oversees programs, staff, clinical services, and fiscal operations of the local public health department. The role develops community partnerships, manages resources, and ensures delivery of safe, high‑quality public health services.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Hire, supervise, evaluate, and train clinical and clerical staff; oversee student training.
  • Plan and manage county health programs; maintain compliance; submit reports; support policy development.
  • Ensure safe, high‑quality services; monitor customer satisfaction; participate in audits and QI projects.
  • Manage budgets, supplies, equipment, and facility needs.
  • Coordinate education, health promotion, and public engagement activities.
  • Provide direct patient care as an expanded role nurse, including labs, treatments, medications, vaccines, education, and referrals; document care thoroughly and appropriately in the EMR.
  • Serve as local public health contact; participate in meetings; brief the Board of Health.
  • Lead emergency preparedness; oversee facility safety and compliance with fire and safety protocols. Communicates facility needs (including but not limited to painting, landscape, and repairs) to the BOH and appropriate county authority.
  • Participate in district projects and committees and other duties as assigned
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. Responsibilities and essential functions may change to meet organizational needs.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or two (2) years of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse Spv (HCP193) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Prior experience working in public health.
  • Knowledge of Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) nursing protocols.
  • Experience managing federal or state‑funded budgets.
