The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $57.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
SUMMARY Processes and adjusts property and casualty claims involving district vehicles, facilities, and other assets by investigating losses, determining liability, and setting reserves. Manages claims in RMIS, maintaining documentation and providing updates to stakeholders. Coordinates repairs and pursues subrogation and recovery from third parties. Supports timely claim resolution, property restoration, and cost control for the District.

Three years of experience in general liability, auto, and/or property claims handling. Two years of experience working with public entities preferred.
High School degree required. Post-secondary insurance related courses or an Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
None required. ARM (Associate in Risk Management), ARM-P (Associate in Risk Management for Public Entities) preferred.
Knowledge of property and casualty insurance principles, including liability, coverage determination, subrogation, and claims settlement practices. Knowledge of District insurance policies and basic legal concepts related to tort liability, third-party responsibility, and recovery of damages. Knowledge of standard procedures for investigating property damage, vehicle accidents, and facility-related losses, including documentation and reporting requirements. Knowledge of Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) for claim entry, tracking, documentation, and reporting. Skilled in conducting basic investigations, including gathering facts, inspecting damage, interviewing involved parties, and collecting supporting documentation. Skilled in evaluating claim exposure, setting reserves within authority limits, and monitoring claim status and progress. Skilled in coordinating property repairs, vehicle damage claims, and vendor communications to ensure timely and accurate claim resolution. Skilled in communicating clearly and professionally with internal departments, external claimants, insurance carriers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Ability to analyze claim information and identify issues requiring escalation. Ability to manage multiple claims while maintaining accuracy, organization, and compliance with established procedures and timelines. Ability to maintain accurate electronic claim files and ensure confidentiality of sensitive financial, legal, and incident-related information.
Ability to focus on objects at varying distances and distinguish between colors (with corrective lenses). Perform tasks that require manual dexterity, including operation of computers & small office equipment. Basic mobility and the ability to navigate the office environment safely. Ability to speak clearly, listen attentively (with assistance devices), and convey information accurately. May be required to give presentations to groups.
Ability to analyze complex situations, identify potential risks, and devise effective solutions. Ability to remain flexible in dynamic environments, adjusting plans and strategies as necessary to accommodate changing requirements or circumstances. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other teams. Ability to manage time and priorities to meet deadlines.
Work is performed in a semi-secured office building with a typical office environment and risk factors. May be exposed to outside elements during travel between campuses and offices.
