The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $57.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
SUMMARY Assists with the development and implementation of districtwide strategic communication initiatives that support organizational priorities and build public trust. Leads strategic communication planning efforts by collaborating and providing counsel to district leadership and teams, establishing communication plans, and tracking progress. Directs communications operations to ensure accessible and brand-consistent messaging across all communication channels through oversight of editorial planning, content strategy, workflows, school partnership services, and cross-functional projects. Leverages communications research, analytics, and audience insights to inform key messaging that resonates with internal and external audiences. Ensures the district communicates effectively, consistently, and transparently, to advance organizational goals, strengthen community confidence, and support student success.

REQUIREMENTS EXPERIENCE 5 years of experience in relevant communication roles (e.g., digital communications or marketing, graphic design, journalism and/or public relations, etc.), including 3 years of experience supervising communications teams.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred field of study in communications, education, public administration, public relations, journalism, marketing or related fields.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS None required. Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) or similar credential preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of best practices for strategic communications, media relations, and accessibility. Knowledge of applicable laws governing public records and confidentiality. Skill in developing and executing strategic messaging, managing media inquiries and media relationships. Skill in providing strategic guidance to senior leaders and public officials on public engagement and developing executive-level talking points for diverse audiences. Skill in creating communication plans and district-wide messaging using AP writing style. Skill in monitoring media coverage and public sentiment, identifying communication risks and opportunities. Skill in evaluating communication effectiveness through metrics and stakeholder feedback. Ability to navigate complex, politically sensitive issues with clarity, discretion, sound judgment, and alignment to organizational goals while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with district policies. Ability to supervise, mentor, and train communications staff. Ability to lead multiple projects within a fast-paced, deadline-driven complex environment. Ability to adapt and rapidly deploy new technology tools to communicate with audiences.
SPAN OF CONTROL Exercises independent judgment in managing media relations, strategic communications, and crisis communications. Provides functional oversight and direction to communications staff, consultants, contractors, and project teams, while serving as a key advisor to district and school leaders on public affairs, media strategy, and community engagement. Officially represents the district in interactions with media, community organizations, and public stakeholders and is authorized to make statements on the district's behalf. Supervises members of the Communications team and vendors/contractors. Will work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Communications to steward the budget.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in a semi-secured office building with a typical office environment and risk factors. Will require frequent visit to both elementary and secondary school sites. Typical elementary school building may also contain libraries, computer labs, playgrounds, and kitchens. Typical secondary school campus may also contain libraries, science labs, computer labs, kitchens, auditoriums, gymnasiums & athletic fields, and possibly specialized shops. May also visit other locations for public meetings. May be exposed to outside elements and risk of injury while driving.
