Job summary

Northern VA Community College seeks an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Health Sciences disciplines. The role involves planning and delivering courses across multiple formats (face to face, remote, online) to diverse students and up to 12 credits in fall/spring or 8 in summer. The adjunct contract has no guaranteed continued employment.

Must reside in the DMV metro area. The position is part-time and paid per credit hour according to rank and discipline.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of full-time, related occupational experience; part-time converted to full-time equivalent.

Title: Adjunct Faculty - Health Sciences Disciplines

Agency: Northern VA Community College

Location: Multiple Locations

FLSA: Exempt

Hiring Range: Adjunct faculty are paid a per-credit-hour rate based on their assigned rank and discipline. For Health Science, the rates are: Instructor ($1,590), Assistant Professor ($1,727), Associate Professor ($1,856), and Professor ($1,998).

Full Time or Part Time: Part Time

Job Description: Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Teaching may include a variety of formats: face to face, remote, and online. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no expectation or guarantee of continued employment.

Must reside in the DMV metro area.

Essential Functions

As a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in the teaching field OR associate degree in the teaching field with demonstrated competencies.
  • Qualifying academic degrees and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time, related occupational experience. Part-time occupational experience will be converted to its full-time equivalent.
  • Professional licensure and/or occupational certification as required for professional practice in the occupational field.
