Monmouth University seeks Adjunct Professors of Public History in the History and Anthropology department to teach on the West Long Branch campus. Positions are non-remote and continuously posted to expand the pool of qualified faculty.

Monmouth University is seeking applications for Adjunct Professors of Public History in the History and Anthropology department. Monmouth requires history majors take an introductory course in public history and also offers M.A. level option for a Public History accent.

The candidate is expected to teach 3 – 6 credits per semester, hold office hours (be available to meet with students a minimum of one hour per week per 3 credits taught), and use the university's designated LMS system (D2L). Courses are taught in person at the West Long Branch campus. Adjunct positions remain posted continuously to expand the university's pool of qualified adjunct faculty. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach 3-6 credits during the semester.
  • Develop and deliver course lectures, discussions and assignments in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Provide time during the week to meet with students outside of class.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student engagement and academic success.
  • Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner.
  • Provide timely feedback and guidance to students to support their learning and development.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in History or Public History or related field along with experience including, but not limited to museum appointments, archive work, or historical interpretation.

  • Ph.D. in History or Public History.
  • Experience teaching Museum and Archive Management and Introduction to Public History classes.
