The Department of Art and Design at Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Adjunct Professor who uses critical pedagogical approaches to teach the Surveys of Western Art. Currently, we offer a 2-part Western Survey: Prehistoric to Gothic during the Fall, and Renaissance to Contemporary during the Spring.
Preference given to faculty who can also teach the intro-level Art Appreciation and/or some of our 300-level, writing-intensive offerings in Art History, as needed. These include, but are not limited to: African American Art; History of Graphic Design; and Gender, Art, and Society. For a full list of our course offerings, click here.
Part-time Adjunct Faculty members typically teach 3-6 credits per semester, with class schedules determined based on departmental needs and candidate availability. Courses are taught in person at the West Long Branch campus. Adjunct positions remain posted continuously to expand the university's pool of qualified adjunct faculty. Teach 3-6 credits during the semester. Develop and deliver course lectures, discussions and assignments in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives. Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner.
