ADJUNCT – PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT POOL
Job Description Summary
Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Courses may include online courses and/or dual‑credit/early college classes.
Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.
Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) requires an Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences.
- Physical Therapist (PT) requires a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
- Current licensure as a PTA or PT in Texas.
- Three (3) years experience as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) or licensed Physical Therapist (PT).
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success, including learning communities.
- Ability to meet the faculty requirements as stated in the Evaluative Standards for the accreditation of Physical Therapist Assistant Programs.
- Competency in the area that the adjunct is responsible for teaching will be verified through review of CE courses, academic training, in‑services, or specific job experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a clinical instructor.
- Ability to work with students with special needs based on the ADA.
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem‑solving, and counseling skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association.

Job Duties
- Assign and supervise PTA students in the lab setting or provide instruction in a classroom and lab setting.
- Advise students throughout clinical hours as needed.
- Grade student weekly papers and evaluate students as needed in each class.
