Adjunct Political Science Instructor (Correctional Center Programs)

Design and teach American Government courses to diverse students in a correctional center environment.

Official transcripts, from a regionally accredited institution, are required to be received a minimum of two business weeks before the first day of work. Failure to comply may result in revocation of the job offer.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement course relevant to delivery method and length of course.
• Maintain records for attendance, submit grades, and stay current with planned course outcomes and assignments.
• Maintain good communication with department chairperson, lead instructor, peers, students, and correctional center staff.
• Follow departmental standards for the course.
• Follow all North Carolina Department of Adult Correction rules and guidelines.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Political Science OR a Master’s degree in a relevant area with 18 graduate semester hours in Political Science.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching in community college or other higher education institution.
• Experience teaching in a correctional center.
• Experience using Moodle or other Learning Management System.
