Job summary

The MCPHS School of Optometry invites an adjunct faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences for students in The Eye and Vision Center. The successful candidate will precept optometry students in the Primary Care Service and at affiliated community health centers, with placement at Worcester, Framingham, or Milford as needed.

Responsibilities include teaching evidence-based patient care, glaucoma management, and objective student assessment based on the clinical curriculum.

Qualifications

• Must hold an O.D. degree from an ACOE‑accredited school.
• Massachusetts optometry license required.
• Massachusetts controlled substance license required.
• Minimum of three years’ work experience.
• Residency training is desired.
• Commitment to professional optometric education and student success.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Precept 3rd and 4th year optometry students in The Eye and Vision Center Primary Care service and community centers.
• Teach evidence-based patient care methods aligned with MCPHS curriculum.
• Teach and manage patients including glaucoma care and treatment.
• Objectively grade students based on clinical knowledge, skills and patient management.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
