Job summary

Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in Optometry. The appointee will precept optometry students in the Eye and Vision Center Primary Care service and at affiliated community health centers, rotating among Worcester, Framingham, or Milford as needed.

Responsibilities include teaching evidence-based patient care, glaucoma management, and grading student performance, with additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• OD degree from an ACOE-accredited school or college of optometry.
• Massachusetts optometry license required.
• Massachusetts controlled substance license required.
• Minimum of three years' work experience.
• Residency training is desired.
• Commitment to professional optometric education and student success.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Experience providing primary care treatment and management.
• Ability to work independently and interact with a wide array of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Precept 3rd and 4th year optometry students in The Eye and Vision Center Primary Care service and affiliated centers.
• Teach 3rd/4th year students evidence-based patient care methods per MCPHS curriculum.
• Instruct on treating and managing patients, including glaucoma.
• Objectively grade students based on clinical knowledge, skills, and patient management.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
