Job summary

Del Mar College Testing Center is seeking an Adjunct Occupational Therapy Assistant to teach courses at various times and locations, including online and dual-credit classes. The role requires maintaining professional relationships and advancing the quality of instruction.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, relevant teaching experience, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse student backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).
• Three years experience as a licensed COTA or OTA or an Occupational Therapist.
• Experience teaching at the secondary or college level is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign and supervise OTA students in the lab setting.
• Advise students throughout clinical hours as needed.
• Grade student work and evaluate students as required.

Position Summary

ADJUNCT – OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT ( OTA ): Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline. Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Courses may include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant ( COTA ) or Occupational Therapy Assistant ( OTA ) requires an Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences.
• Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapist, Registered ( OTR ) requires a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy ( MOT ).
• Three (3) years experience as a licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant ( COTA ) or Occupational Therapy Assistant ( OTA ) ***OR*** Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapist, Registered ( OTR ).

• Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.
• Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching at the secondary or college level.
• Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas).
