Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is seeking an adjunct faculty member in the Medical Lab Technician program. The selected candidate will teach topics in Medical Lab Technology and Phlebotomy, develop course materials, and evaluate student work.

The role is part-time adjunct with pay per credit hour; successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success and professional development within the Nursing department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Science as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist credentialed by ASCP or AMT
• Current TN state license as a Technologist
• Evidence of ongoing professional development
• Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the appropriate level
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with students, staff and faculty
• Willingness to reinforce lectures with hands-on experiences when resources permit
• Ability to stand for extended time; lift 25 pounds
• Computer literate

Responsibilities

• Prepares and delivers instruction on Medical Lab Technology and Phlebotomy.
• Compiles, administers, evaluates and grades students' class work and lab work.
• Develops curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi and handouts.
• Maintains office hours and assists in student recruitment and retention.
• Maintains accurate attendance records, grades and FERPA-compliant records.
• Attends faculty meetings and professional development activities.
• Keeps abreast of field developments through literature and conferences.
• Participates in committees and community outreach.
• Maintains NAACLS accreditation standards in teaching.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Department Head/Dean.
