The Division of Allied Health Sciences is seeking Adjunct Instructors for lecture and/or labs for Jefferson County School's Med Ed Program.
Duties
As an adjunct professor, you work with students at higher education facilities to provide them with the knowledge and training they need to be successful in their chosen career. Your ability to work on a course-by-course basis gives you the flexibility to choose when you want to work and when you don't. Typical duties of adjunct instructors include but aren't limited to:
- Teach community & technical college students in a specific field of expertise and engage with students to help them learn.
- Review/refine a class syllabus to include instructor-specific contact information and course policies and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
- Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
- Grade assigned papers, quizzes, and exams.
- Assess students' progress based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
- Report student learning outcomes, class reviews, and analyze student data.
- Collaborate with colleagues on course curriculum.
- Advise students on how to be successful in class.
- Stay updated on innovations and changes within their course field.
Education
- Associate's degree or higher in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field.
- Completed a clinical laboratory program or internship through a hospital-based program or as part of their education.
Experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Teaching or training experience, preferred.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace), preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to teach utilizing real-world experience.
- Proficiency with email and Blackboard (learning management system).
- Demonstrates passion for their academic field and education in general.
Licensure/Certification
- Active national certification as a certified medical lab assistant (CMLA), certified medical lab technician (MLT), medical technologist (MT), clinical laboratory scientist (CLS), or medical laboratory scientist (MLS).
Salary depends on degree level.
