Job summary

Unity Environmental University seeks enthusiastic adjunct instructors to teach online baccalaureate courses in Economic Development and related topics. Courses run five weeks across eight terms, entirely online, with asynchronous delivery and student engagement expectations.

The position requires a terminal degree or substantial professional experience, plus comfort with Canvas or another LMS. Remote, US-resident adjuncts preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to teach online to adult learners using asynchronous methods.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate engagement in 5-week undergraduate courses in Economic Development or related topics.
  • Deliver asynchronous instruction with ~20 students per course and provide timely feedback.
  • Engage students via Discussion Boards and respond promptly.

We are committed to empowering our students to become the changemakers our world needs, wherever they are.The Opportunity:Unity Environmental University Distance Education is seeking enthusiastic individuals to teach courses for our online baccalaureate degree programs. Courses are online and run for five weeks in eight terms for baccalaureate programs.Day to Day Responsibilities:This position is responsible for facilitating engagement in 5-week undergraduate-level courses in Economic Development and/or related courses.Courses are taught asynchronously with an average of 20 students per course.Instructors must meet expectations for timely feedback, engagement in Discussion Board tasks, and responsiveness to students.Qualifications:Do you have the skills?The ideal candidate will possess a terminal degree (e.g., PhD) in economics, environmental economics, ecological economics, sustainable development, business, or a related discipline, or a master's degree with ample professional experience in the field.The instructor must also have professional or research experience applying economic principles to sustainable development, environmental economics, or integrating ecological and social considerations into economic analysis and policy.Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)Must have strong organizational and time management skillsAbility to communicate effectively and appropriately using e-mail and digital conferencing toolsPersonal commitment to the environmental focus and mission of the collegeDesired Skills:Experience teaching adult learners and/or teaching in an online contextExperience using Canvas or other Learning Management System to facilitate learningThe Location:Unity Environmental University's Distance Education curriculum is 100% online. Our Distance Education Adjuncts will teach remotely and are required to reside within the United States for the entire duration of the academic term in which they are teaching.
