Job summary

Lamar State College Port Arthur invites applications for an Adjunct Spanish Instructor. The role involves classroom and lab instruction with classes that may occur during the day, in the evening, or online at on-campus, dual enrollment, or Early College High School sites.

Reporting to the General Education and Developmental Studies Department, the instructor will contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and student success while maintaining current knowledge of educational trends.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in the qualifying field or a master’s degree with eighteen (18) semester credit hours in the subject matter.
  • Ability to work independently in the classroom.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Job description

Job Summary

The Adjunct Spanish Instructor has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, classroom instruction and lab instruction. Assigned classes may occur during the day, evening, and/or online with varying teaching locations including on-campus, dual enrollment, and Early College High School. This position reports to LSCPA’s General Education and Developmental Studies Department.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide quality instruction.
  • Exhibit commitment and involvement in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum based on program, department and college goals and objectives.
  • Attend faculty meetings.
  • Maintain current knowledge, expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility along with broader higher education matters and trends.
  • Respond to students, faculty and staff in a timely and professional manner.
  • Comply with campus policies and procedures.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in the qualifying field, or a master’s degree with eighteen (18) semester credit hours in the subject matter.
  • Work independently in the classroom.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Possess time management and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Spanish.
  • Teaching experience in higher education.
  • Teaching experience at a two-year college.
  • Experience with Blackboard.
Supplemental Information

Physical Requirements: Duties may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting or moving of equipment or materials up to 25 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity are required to ensure effective instruction and safe supervision of students in classroom and laboratory settings.

Work Hours: Dependent upon class schedule.
