Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach designated graduate courses in the College. Instructors will deliver scheduled coursework, engage with students, and uphold university policies.

Responsibilities include developing and reviewing course and assessment materials, preparing syllabi, providing textbook lists, grading on time, supervising teaching assistants if any, and maintaining office hours. Collaboration with College staff and faculty is expected.

  • Provide guidance and supervision for teaching/lab assistants if applicable.
  • For courses with a lab component: provide equipment lists one month prior and a lab manual explaining techniques and materials.
  • Maintain office hours for academic support and interact with colleagues in line with university values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Teach designated graduate course(s) during indicated semester(s). Work in collaboration with College staff and faculty to develop and/or review course and assessment materials, including laboratory sections if applicable. Produce a course syllabus which should include the course objectives, outline of course content, testing dates, course requirements for final grade determination, required or recommended resource texts, etc. Provide the College with information needed to order the course textbook(s). Provide the College with materials for copying or printing at least one week prior to the course or class start date. Provide a final course grade for each student by the specified date according to the College’s grade scale. Participate in the course evaluation process. Provide guidance and supervision for teaching/laboratory assistants if applicable. For course(s) with a laboratory component: Provide the College with a list of equipment and supplies needed for each session at least one month prior to the course or class start date. Provide students with a laboratory manual including explanations of techniques and materials to be used. Maintain office hours for academic support. Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University.
