Durham Technical Community College seeks an adjunct instructor of Humanities in the Humanities and Fine Arts Department. The Adjunct Instructor handles course preparation, delivery, grading, and records management, working closely with the Discipline Chair to support the CALA department and its students.

The position is a pool posting for the 2026–2027 academic year; applications are reviewed as needed, and candidates may be contacted as positions become available based on enrollment and program

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and at least 18 graduate semester hours in Humanities or related courses.
  • Successful experience teaching at a university or community college.

Responsibilities

  • Teach all courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction.
  • Be fully prepared with a syllabus and instructional plans for each class session.
  • Enforce academic policy and procedures at all times, and comply with institutional rules and regulations.
  • Maintain complete course and student records, reports, and forms.
  • Stay current with developments in the field of instruction and complete mandatory professional development training.
  • Work with the chair and department leadership to support CALA objectives.

Position Description

Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring an adjunct instructor ofHumanitiesin theHumanities and Fine ArtsDepartment. The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for course preparation, delivery, grading, and records management. The Instructor will work closely with his or her Discipline Chair on matters related to and for the benefit of the CALA department and its students.

  • Assume other necessary responsibilities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the chair, department dean, chief instructional officer, or president, in meeting the needs of the department, division, and college
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory/classroom preparation, including maintenance and cleanup, and recommend, as necessary, appropriate laboratory supplies and equipment
