Responsibilities

• Design and teach courses in software tech ventures.
• Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study with measurable objectives.
• Prepare syllabi, exams, and instructional materials as needed.
• Instruct, manage, and supervise students in classrooms and labs.
• Evaluate instruction using appropriate testing methods in consultation with full-time faculty.
• Collaborate with a full-time faculty member to meet academic standards.
• Maintain a student-centered approach to education.
• Coordinate service-learning work experiences with students as assigned.
• Assist department staff and chair with program needs.

Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is looking to hire an Adjunct Instructor to teach a Computer Science (CS) focused entrepreneurship-style course. Our adjunct assignments are temporary, part-time assignments based on need per semester. The schedule and number of courses can change. Adjuncts can be assigned 0-3 courses in any given semester.

Summary Of Responsibilities

• Design and teach courses in the field of software tech ventures.
• Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
• Prepares instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, exams, etc.) as necessary.
• Instructs, manages, and supervises students in classrooms and computer labs using appropriate teaching methods.
• Evaluates instruction and learning by means of appropriate testing methods and in consultation with full-time faculty.
• Works closely with an assigned full-time faculty member to ensure academic standards, department standards, and course/program outcomes are met in each class taught.
• Maintains a student-oriented approach to education.
• Coordinates engaged and/or service-learning work experience programs with students as assigned.
• Assists counselors, department chairperson, and or program coordinator, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program.
• Serves on curriculum committees and attends meetings as assigned.
• Improves professionally and maintains currency in the courses taught by:
  • Reading and utilizing materials found in trade, technical, and professional publications.
  • Surveying and researching industrial and business establishments.
  • Obtaining and maintaining certification and degrees as required.
  • Attending professional and specialty courses.
  • Keeping abreast of new development trends, and techniques.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

• Graduation from an accredited business college with an Associate of Applied Science degree in the subject matter or a closely related area and four years of teaching experience or closely related professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in the subject matter or a closely related area and one year of teaching or closely related professional experience.
• OR graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in the subject matter or a closely related area and two years of teaching or closely related professional experience.
