Job summary

Volunteer State Community College seeks an Adjunct Instructor- English to deliver quality instruction using integrative technologies. Teach courses on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities as assigned and be ready for evening, weekend, or off-campus scheduling.

Responsibilities include submitting syllabi ahead of term, maintaining VSCC email, timely grading, and completing trainings. Minimum qualifications include a master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in English.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in English from an accredited institution.
  • Collegiate level teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to use a variety of instructional delivery modes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the execution of contract.
  • Regularly check your VSCC email and your departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend.
  • Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar.
  • Complete required College trainings. Complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions and administer and return surveys by the required deadlines.
  • Advise the Department Chair at the earliest possibility if you are unable to teach a class.
  • Attend meetings as requested by the Department Chair and/or Dean. Comply with all of the College's and TBR's policies and guidelines.

Pay Rate:

$675 - $800 per credit hour

Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring and summer.
