Lackawanna College is seeking adjunct instructors for Fall 2026 at the Hazleton Campus to teach specified courses on a per-semester basis.

Positions report to the AVP of Academic Operations with primary contact at the Hazleton Center Director, Matt Adams. Candidates should have a Master’s degree with content-area undergrad, and prior teaching experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in content area or education with undergraduate in the content area preferred; BA/BS considered.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in corporate or higher education settings preferred.
  • Ability to teach on-ground courses at the Hazleton Campus for Fall 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an on-ground classroom setting.
  • Thoroughly prepares and teaches all course lessons, considering diverse learners and industry regulations.
  • Provides support and guidance to students to optimize learning outcomes.
  • Completes and maintains required documentation: syllabi, grades, attendance, midterm/final grades, etc.
  • Fosters a professional classroom environment and hands-on application of material.
  • Performs duties as required by the Dean.

Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

Adjunct instructors are part-time faculty hired to teach a specified course/s on a per-semester basis. The opportunity to continue teaching at the college is assessed every semester, and criteria for re-employment include: Attention to administrative deadlines (i.e., setting up course prior to semester start, grading student work, tracking attendance), timely and professional communication with students and colleagues, and students’ course/instructor evaluations.

Current openings are for classes running at the Hazleton Campus for Fall 2026. This position reports to the AVP of Academic Operations, but the primary point of contact will be the Hazleton Center Director, Matt Adams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an on-ground classroom setting.
  • Thoroughly prepares and teaches all course lessons, considering diverse learners and accounting for current trends and industry regulations.
  • Provides support and guidance to students to optimize learning outcomes.
  • Completes and maintains all required documentation and records, meeting established deadlines, including, but not limited to, syllabi, grades, midterm and final grades, attendance, and end-of-semester reflection on Student Learning Outcomes assessment.
  • Fosters a professional and supportive classroom environment conducive to students learning, asking questions, thinking critically, and growing as individuals.
  • Provides meaningful hands-on application of material to reinforce transfer of learning.
  • All other duties as required by the Dean.

EDUCATION:
  • Masters degree in content area or Master’s degree in education with an undergraduate degree in the content area preferred. Bachelors Degrees will be considered.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Demonstrated prior teaching experience in a corporate or higher education setting preferred.
