Job summary

Central Georgia Technical College is seeking an instructor to provide associate-level Computer Information Systems instruction, develop syllabi, and assess student progress. The role involves teaching various modalities including online classes, maintaining records, and mentoring adjunct faculty.

The position requires a master’s in CIST (or a related master’s with teaching hours), or a bachelor’s with teaching competence, plus relevant certifications and credentialing.

Qualifications

  • Earned master’s degree in CIST or master’s with 18 graduate hours in teaching discipline
  • Bachelor’s degree in CIST or related discipline with teaching competence
  • Alternative qualification requires current nationally recognized certification and/or field experience
  • Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy accrediting bodies
  • Ability to teach all phases of the curriculum
  • Knowledge of current in-field procedures
  • Required documents: resume, CGTC application, transcripts
  • Alternative applicants must submit the CGTC Faculty Qualification Equivalency Form and docs
  • Applicants subject to pre-employment screenings including criminal history, motor vehicle, references, drugs, fingerprint, medical
  • Preference for industry certifications in Website Design, Networking, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, AI, and/or Programming
  • Preference for documented work experience in Website Design, Networking, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and/or Programming
  • Preference for documented postsecondary teaching experience
  • Position may require travel within service area and additional travel

Responsibilities

  • Teach traditional day, evening, and online classes

Job description

• Provide associate-level Computer Information Systems instruction in classroom settings
• Prepare syllabi and lesson plans

• Follow the approved course syllabus and program requirements
• Attend and complete professional development training
• Meet with students and college personnel regarding instructional programs and other issues
• Evaluate student progress toward goals and objectives
• Complete reports, records, and invoices in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate inventory of assigned property
• Potentially serve as a lead instructor and mentor adjunct faculty
• Follow TCSG policies, institutional procedures, and applicable accreditation standards
• Teach traditional day, evening, and/or online classes

Requirements
  • Earned master’s degree in CIST from an accredited academic institution, or earned master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline
  • Alternatively, earned bachelor’s degree in CIST or a closely related discipline from an accredited academic institution with demonstrated competence in the teaching discipline
  • Alternative qualification requires current nationally recognized certification and/or documented work experience in the field
  • Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the assigned course
  • Ability to teach all phases of the curriculum
  • Knowledge of current in-field procedures
  • Required application documentation includes a current resume, completed CGTC job application, and all applicable postsecondary transcripts
  • Alternative qualification applicants must submit the CGTC Faculty Qualification Equivalency Form and supporting documentation
  • Applicants are subject to applicable pre-employment screenings, including criminal history, motor vehicle, employment references, drug, fingerprint, credit, psychological, and medical screenings
  • Preference may be given for industry-recognized certifications in Website Design, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, AI, and/or Computer Programming
