Wilkes Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for College Readiness/Basic Skills to teach low-level adult basic education and provide essential life skills training.
This part-time role requires applicants to hold at least a Bachelor's degree and be willing to obtain NC CORE credentials. The position involves developing tailored lessons, tracking student progress, and ensuring classroom engagement during Monday-Thursday schedules.
The salary ranges from $28.49 to $31.27 based on educational qualifications.

Work is primarily performed in an academic setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.
Essential functions: Positions require lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate, ability to sit and/or stand for long periods, ability to move between classrooms, buildings, and campuses, ability to express or exchange ideas, and good eye/hand dexterity. Exposure to bodily fluids and hazardous chemicals.
Medium work: Requires ability to operate a variety of types of office, instructional, and dental equipment. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work. Requires the ability to walk, stand, stoop, reach, crouch, kneel, reach, or grasp for an extended period of time.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem‑solving skills are important.
