Overview
The Adjunct Instructor works with the Program Chair to design and teach program courses ensuring overall program effectiveness. The Adjunct Instructor is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and advises and supervises master’s degree candidates, participates in faculty collaborative learning, and demonstrates scholarly productivity.
Responsibilities
- Teaches graduate courses in the Touro College GSE Bilingual Advanced Teacher Certification Program (on campus and online)
- May supervise candidates during clinical practice
- Provides academic advisement to program candidates
- Serves as an instructional leader facilitating and participating with collaborative faculty teams in course revisions and developing and sustaining transformative pedagogy in graduate teaching and learning
- Supports and contributes to program level continuous improvement for national/professional accreditation
- Upholds the missions and values of Touro College and the GSE
Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree required (terminal degree). An Ed.D or Ph.D preferred in Bilingual Education or related education field
Experience
- Successful classroom teaching experience K‑12 with diverse students
- Successful graduate‑level teaching experience face‑to‑face and online
- Experience supervising degree candidates in clinical field placements if assigned for clinical supervision
- Leadership experience
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Excellent communication, teaching and interpersonal / intercultural skills across a wide range of media (including social media)
- Proficiency in online learning platforms including Canvas, Adobe Connect, Zoom and other digital media
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Strong bilingual education expertise in urban areas
- Commitment to culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy
Travel
Occasional travel to program meetings at Touro College locations.
Compensation
Maximum salary: USD $4,000.00 per semester
Minimum salary: USD $3,500.00 per semester
