Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
  • Make continuous effort to advance the quality of instruction.
  • Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing backgrounds.
  • Review, evaluate, and effectively use student learning materials.
  • Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows guidelines and facilitates understanding of content goals and expectations.
  • Hold scheduled office hours and be available for conferences with students.

Education

Associate degree or higher
College-level mathematics courses with industry/business experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field
18+ hours of Math courses

ADJUNCT - INDUSTRIAL MATHEMATICS (TECM) POOL

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time/adjunct assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. AN APPLICATION IS VALID FOR ONE YEAR, AT WHICH TIME APPLICANTS WISHING TO REMAIN IN THE POOL MUST REAPPLY AND UPDATE THEIR INFORMATION.

Position Summary Information

The purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need, and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community. Courses may include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes. To provide quality instruction to address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher.
  • College-level course(s) in mathematics with an emphasis on experience in industry or business-based careers.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor and the aptitudes to assist both new and returning students achieve their educational goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.
  • Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to plan a course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate various learning styles of students.
  • Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or in a related field.
  • Completion of eighteen (18) or more hours of Math courses.
  • Five (5) years of job-related teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of industry or business-based careers.

Job Duties

  • Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
  • Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the course syllabus guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of content goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work.
  • Hold scheduled, posted virtual or physical office hours of at least one (1) hour daily and be available for and encourage conferences with students so there is a clearer understanding of the students work and the possibility of improvement.
