Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and three years of industry experience.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
  • American Culinary Federation Certifications in any of the following: Certified Culinary Educator (CCE), Certified Executive Chef (CEC), Certified Working Pastry Chef (CWPC) – Certified Executive Pastry Chef (CEPC).

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and oversees curriculum in conjunction with Department policies.
  • Creates positive classroom atmosphere and supports diverse learning activities.
  • Uses technology to support instruction and communicates expectations to students.
  • Keeps accurate records, maintains attendance, and submits grades on time.
  • Distributes and maintains syllabi with required guidelines.
  • Conducts classes punctually and assesses student performance.
  • Participates in department meetings and professional development.

Job Description

The Adjunct – Hospitality position provides quality instruction andmaintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, withmajor emphasis placed on teaching, supporting, and evaluatingstudents. The Adjunct role provides instruction and monitorsteaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by theDepartment Chair, or other leadership members. The incumbent mustexhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitaskwhile engaging large groups of people with complicatedmaterial.

Instruction & Student Learning
  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and assumes primaryresponsibility for and exercises oversight of the curriculum inconjunction with the Department’s policies, ensuring both the rigorof programs and the quality of instruction.
  • Considers individual differences of students in order to designand support a range of appropriate learning activities.Participates in the identification of students with academic orother needs and responds by utilizing an appropriate resource.
  • Uses technology in a manner appropriate to the nature andobjectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly tostudents the expectations concerning the use of suchtechnology.
  • Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance withdepartmental policies.
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits gradestimely, and in accordance with established policies and proceduresof the College, and communicates progress feedback as well as otherrelevant information to students throughout the semester.
  • Distributes and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporatesdepartmental, college, cross-college, and instructorrequirements.
  • Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with theprescribed meeting schedule.
  • Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure students’performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
  • Engages in periodic meetings with the department, LeadInstructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching duties andprofessional development.
Student Engagement & Advisement
  • Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages activeand collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge,student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.
  • Maintains posted office hours in accordance with departmentaland policies of the College.
  • Uses technology to assist in communication with students.Encourages a sense of community among students for learning bothinside and outside the classroom.
  • Advises potential or current students within the disciplineabout the program, career, or transfer options available to assistwith degree completion.
  • Refers students to appropriate student and academic supportservices available at the College or in the community.

  • Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect andinclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of thecommunity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of industryexperience.

Compensation Details

Compensation: $55.88 per contact hour

Contact Hour: Two hours equals one contact hour

Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week
