Job summary

Daytona State College is seeking an adjunct instructor in Surgical Technology to teach courses and support student outcomes in alignment with college policies. This is a part-time, temporary assignment for no more than one semester, filled based on enrollment and instructional needs.

Candidates must hold an AS in Surgical Technology with NBSTSA CST credentials and have at least two years of experience in the OR scrub role or teaching, within the last five years.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of the subject area(s) to be taught.
• Strong foundation in effective communication and instruction.
• Understanding of community college students' characteristics and challenges.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures, as well as Basic Course Information sheets.
• Prepare and submit timely grade reports and other reports on student performance as scheduled or required.
• Organize class activities and assignments, relating them to the overall learning outcomes of the course.
• Provide input and work with other faculty and staff to review, produce and/ or select course-related materials.

Job description

• Associate of Science degree in Surgical Technology (Bachelor's Degree Preferred)
• Credential of Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required.
• Minimum of two years of experience, either in the operating room in the scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology or a combination of both, within the past five years.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and teaching experience are preferred.
