Job description

Job Summary

The Adjunct position provides quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with major emphasis placed on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The incumbent is responsible for teaching courses assigned by the Department Chair or other leadership members, designing curriculum that embraces diversity, applying inclusive teaching strategies, and utilizing technology to enhance learning. They keep accurate records, report grades timely, and communicate progress feedback to students.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses as scheduled and conduct classes punctually according to the prescribed meeting schedule.
  • Design curriculum that embraces diversity and models inclusive teaching strategies, taking into account socio-cultural issues of traditionally underrepresented groups.
  • Implement appropriate assessment techniques to measure students’ performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, submit grades in accordance with established policies, and provide progress feedback throughout the semester.
  • Distribute and maintain accurate syllabi incorporating departmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements.
  • Use technology appropriately and communicate expectations regarding its use to students.
  • Engage student learning and advisement, encouraging a sense of community and referring students to academic support services as needed.
  • Participate in periodic meetings with the department, lead instructor, and chairperson concerning teaching duties and professional development.
  • Foster a safe environment of respect and inclusion for all faculty, staff, students, and community members.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
  • Credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
  • Minimum of two years of experience, either operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
  • First Aid CPR Certification and operation room training.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
  • Continuous professional development in core surgical technology courses, including fundamentals and practice.
Compensation

$56.88 per contact hour (two hours equal one contact hour), with a maximum of 12 contact hours per week. Part-time position.
