Position Summary:

Franklin University, a private, independent, accredited, not-for-profit University located in Columbus, Ohio invites applicants for its Adjunct Faculty‑Radiologic Technology position. The Adjunct Faculty role includes primary responsibility for providing quality instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment with an emphasis placed on teaching, supporting and evaluating students. Assigned courses will be for online instruction.

Courses Available to Teach and Course Outcomes:
  • HIM 150: Medical Terminology
    • Identify common terminology, tools, and practices used in health and wellness domains. Interpret medical terms using prefixes, word roots, suffixes, and combining forms. Apply medical terminology conventions to construct and define healthcare terms. Recognize terminology associated with body systems, diseases, diagnostic procedures, and treatments. Use medical terminology appropriately within healthcare and clinical settings.
  • RADT 101: Introduction to Radiologic Technology
    • Apply patient assessment skills for radiological procedures. Implement safety protocols for radiographic procedures. Apply ethical and legal standards in patient care. Recommend appropriate responses to emergency situations, Apply humanistic and cultural humility approaches to decision-making.
  • RADT 102: Radiation Science: Physics, Biology, and Protection
    • Explain the fundamentals of X-ray production, Differentiate how radiation interacts with matter, Describe the characteristics of X-rays. Evaluate the biological effects of ionizing radiation on cells and tissues. Apply radiation protection strategies. Evaluate the roles of federal & state regulatory bodies in radiation safety compliance.
  • RADT 110: Radiographic Procedures I
    • Explain radiological positioning terminology, Apply anatomical knowledge to radiological positioning techniques, Analyze anatomy on image capture Assess radiographic images in terms of positioning accuracy, image quality, anatomical structures visualized, and appropriate exposure considerations.
  • RADT 120: Radiographic Procedures II
    • Explain radiological positioning terminology. Apply anatomical knowledge to radiological positioning techniques. Analyze anatomy on image capture. Assess radiographic images in terms of positioning accuracy, image quality, anatomical structures visualized, and appropriate exposure considerations. Explain the purpose, preparation, and execution of contrast materials
  • RADT 201: Image Acquisition, Equipment, and Quality Assurance
    • Evaluate the effects of exposure factors on image quality. Analyze factors affecting spatial resolution, contrast resolution, image noise, and distortion. Discuss the components of computed radiography (CR) and digital radiography (DR) systems. Explain Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) in imaging. Describe regulatory standards governing equipment performance and radiation safety. Evaluate the role of the radiology professional on data quality
  • RADT 210: Radiographic Procedures III
    • Explain radiological positioning terminology Apply anatomical knowledge to radiological positioning techniques Analyze anatomy on image capture Assess radiographic images in terms of positioning accuracy, image quality, anatomical structures visualized, and appropriate exposure considerations. Interpret sectional imaging of key anatomical regions, including cross-sectional relationships as visualized in CT, MRI, and other imaging modalities
  • RADT 205: Radiologic Technology Review
    • Utilize structured review sessions to enhance test‑taking skills and confidence in preparation for national certification exams. Synthesize key concepts from radiologic technology courses to develop a thorough understanding of radiologic technology. Assess imaging parameters to meet quality assurance standards in clinical practice. Apply radiologic technology principles to minimize exposure risks for patients, personnel, and the public.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teaches courses in discipline
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits grades with established timeframes established by the University
  • Creates a welcoming, inclusive and productive learning environment
  • Supports the resolution of student issues related to course instruction
  • Provides feedback on what is working and what is not with the course
  • Participates in all department meetings and required trainingParticipates in personal professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Faculty
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Sciences, or other healthcare or science-related field
    • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, Health Information
      Management, or other health-related field for Medical Terminology course
  • Holds current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, or equivalent, in radiography (R)
  • Documents two years’ clinical experience in the professional discipline
  • Holds academic and/or professional credentials appropriate to the subject content area taught
  • Is knowledgeable of course development, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising
  • Commitment to collaborative & collegiate relationships
  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Knowledge of higher education regulations, compliance and accrediting agencies
  • Computer proficiency
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and work effectively with faculty, staff, students and members of the professional community
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the radiologic technology discipline in order to accurately and effectively educate students while optimizing patient care/safety
  • Instructors are required to comply with all accreditation and regulatory requirements
Preferred Skills and Characteristics:
  • Master of Science degree, Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), or other healthcare or related field
  • Five years of clinical experience in the field of Radiologic Technology
  • 1-3 years teaching in a post-secondary Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Additional certifications in other modalities, i.e., Computerized Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR), Cardiovascular Interventional or Vascular Interventional (CI/VI), Nuclear Medicine (NM), Sonography (S), Vascular Sonography (VS), Mammography (M)
