Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana seeks an adjunct faculty member for the Spring term to teach courses in political science or related fields at a local high school for dual credit. This temporary, part-time position is filled each semester based on need.
The instructor will deliver instruction using Canvas and PowerPoint, develop and follow course syllabi, monitor attendance and grading, and be available outside class time to assist students. Official transcripts are requested upon hire.
Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the school.
Program Operation: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submits requested information within established timelines. Students: Is available to students outside of scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.
Instruction: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Uses technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.
Possesses an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in political science or public administration; or Possesses an earned Juris Doctor degree, from a regionally accredited institution. Possesses an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in one or a combination of the following disciplines: political science, public administration, history.
Work hours & location: Spring semester (January to May), Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-9:15 a.m., at a local high school for dual credit
