Part-time adjunct faculty pool in Philosophy and Religion to fill opportunities on a course-by-course basis as need arises.

Job Description

The Humanities and Arts Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is regularly seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teachPhilosophy and Religions (PY-RE)courses.PY-REfaculty teach introductory courses,intermediate thematic surveys, andadvancedtopic seminars.WPI’sPY-RE program hasparticular strengthsin socialjusticeand environmental philosophy;underrepresented philosophical and religioustraditionsincluding feminism, critical race theory, and non-Westernworldviews;and studies ofscience,technology, and ethics.

Weanticipateneedfor adjunct faculty who could teach courses inbioethics, philosophy of science, epistemology, non-Western philosophies and religions (especially Chinese traditions), and critical race theory.All adjunct applicants should have thecapacity to teachour core introductory course,Introduction to Philosophy and Religion.

We are looking for outstanding scholars, but successful candidates mustalsodemonstrate teaching excellence and versatility as well as an abilityto jumpintoanexisting curriculum with creative and critical pedagogical approaches. A successful candidate should hold a PhD in Philosophy or Religious Studiesor be a doctoral student who is ABD.
