Job summary

  • Manages and supervises students in classroom and lab activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Keeps students informed about course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance.
  • Ensures program content is current and uses effective pedagogy; maintains subject matter expertise.
  • Evaluates student progress toward course outcomes/competencies.
  • Develops or revises curriculum to meet objectives and improve learning.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Manages and supervises students in all assigned classroom and laboratory activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment
  • Keeps students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements
  • Ensures each program/class contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency. Maintains a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulates enthusiasm for those subjects
  • Evaluates students to measure their progress toward the achievement of course outcomes/competencies
  • Develops, revises, and/or recommends curriculum changes which meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning
Requirements
Education
  • Associates Degree in Nursing, required, Bachelor's degree preferred. (Willingness to start BSN within one year.)
Preferred Qualification
  • One year experience working as a registered nurse, preferred
  • Minimum five years' experience in nursing, nurse educator, nurse practitioner or experience in a related area, required
  • Maintains current, unrestricted Kansas RN license
  • Obtains at own expense, yearly TB test and other immunizations or physical examinations as required by clinical sites. Also, CPR certification obtained prior to going to clinical sites
  • Previous teaching or training experience in adult education preferred, with pre-planning course work
  • Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills - must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills where you can work under pressure to meet deadlines, independently with little supervision
