  • Attends faculty meetings, professional development functions and University committees.
  • Maintains posted hours for student advisement and tutoring.
  • Performs duties designated by Department Head.
  • Oversees program and course collection development with librarians.
  • Oversees compliance with licensing and accrediting organizations.
  • Participates in self-studies and committees conducted by the University.
  • Supports and participates in University Commencement Ceremonies.
  • Participates in new student orientations.
  • Responds to communications on a daily basis.
  • Ensures compliance with FERPA, FIPA, GDPR and related laws.

Job Description
Major Responsibilities
  • Provides appropriate level of instruction and quality instruction to students.
  • Ensures the assessment of students learning outcomes per course.
  • Submits results of research done into a study of local careers and industry regarding appropriateness of course/program content Department Head or Division Head annually.
  • Reports grades and submits reports on a timely fashion to Registrar’s Office.
  • Attends all faculty meetings, professional development functions and University committees they have been assigned.
  • Ensures all electronic library resources are used for college work only.
  • Maintains posted hours for the purpose of student advisement and tutoring.
  • Performs duties designated by Department Head.
  • Works with the librarians to establish and maintain program and course collection development.
  • Oversees compliance with licensing and accrediting organizations.
  • Continuously oversees actions for improvements at campus level sited in the Faculty’s Planning, Assessment, and Implementation Form.
  • Participates in the self-studies and committees conducted by the University.
  • Supports and participates in University Commencement Ceremonies.
  • Participates in the new student orientations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reads, understands and complies with the University’s mission, the catalog, the College’s policies and procedures, the Faculty Handbook, and the institutional effectiveness process.
  • Responds to communications (e-mail/voice-mail) on a daily basis.
  • Ensures compliance with Title IX of Education Amendments Act of 1972. Follows all FNU Policies, Procedures, Rules and Regulation and the FNU Code of Ethics. As well as, Title IX, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, as amended from time to time ("FERPA"), Florida Information Protection Act of 2014, as amended from time to time ("FIPA"), the EU General Data Protection Regulation as amended from time to time (GDPR) and all other applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations.
Education / Experience Requirements
  • Required: Master in Microbiology or minimum of 18 graduate credits in microbiology
  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching or field experience
  • Experience in higher education preferred
