Job Description:

STCC seeks applicants for the position of Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Adjunct Faculty. Working under the supervision of the MLT Department Chair and Dean of the School of Health and Patient Simulation, this role involves planning and delivering instruction, assessing student performance, and supporting student success. Candidates must be competent in clinical laboratory science practice, have documented expertise, and be knowledgeable in various content delivery methods, including distance learning.

The adjunct faculty will collaborate with MLT and other health faculty to create interdisciplinary teaching opportunities. Responsibilities include advising and college service duties as per the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Candidates must be nationally certified with a current ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist in Massachusetts.

Sample Duties:
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair on strategic planning and program evaluation.
  • Complete reports and requests promptly.
  • Participate in initiatives to support occupational therapy students and faculty.
  • Attend required meetings.
Teaching & Assessment:
  • Assess student progress and ensure course learning outcomes are current and evaluated regularly.
  • Teach didactic components to diverse students, promoting engagement and success.
  • Evaluate academic performance and guide students in their educational planning.
Personnel and Facilities:
  • Participate in campus events and professional development.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of specialized equipment.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Serve on college committees and perform other duties as assigned.
Projected Courses:
  • Medical Microbiology (bacteriology)
  • Phlebotomy and Specimen Handling (Spring 1)
  • Urinalysis and Body Fluids (Spring 2)
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification, with proof.
  • Minimum three years of recent teaching or laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of education methods, accreditation procedures, and certification processes.
  • Experience in curriculum design, clinical coordination, and counseling preferred.
  • Employment contingent on background checks and medical requirements.
